love notes
I have a theory that lockdown time is transit time. it’s like when you’re at the airport, and you kind of just don’t ever count that time. productivity goes out the window. sifting through Tik Tok and Reels makes hours blur together. somehow, this isn’t really a loss, it’s just the way of things.
every time the pandemic hits a little too close to home, I find myself in transit time. still, I always think I’ll get more done than I do.
so I just wanted to remind you, I had lofty goals of finishing a bunch of work projects and writing projects and posting a whole bunch of new stuff through August. but 8-days home alone with my cat threw that out the window. if you haven’t gotten much done, or the existential dread is kicking in — just know that where you are is enough. who you are is enough. you don’t need to tick boxes to be worthy — you already are.
thank the fucking universe for facetime. and cats. and giving yourself grace when you deserve it — which you always do.

I’ve written a couple of pieces, which I’ve linked for you below.
and, importantly… I’m finally getting closer to hitting the big publish button on my newest poetry book — which I feel like I can tell you the name of, subscriber friends.
her name is FREE INDEED, and she is a collection of poetry and prose made to hold you in the wild places. she’s been born out of deconstruction, divorce, and knowing when to deconstruct and divorce things from my life. she’s my baby, and I’m excited she’s coming closer to fruition. more updates to come!! obviously!! in the meantime, I’ve included a little sneak peek below of her current vibe.

I’m still really figuring out how this little collection of love notes will look. will it be where I move my writing to? will I send it out haphazardly or will I learn the magic of routine? who knows, really. either way, thank you for coming on the journey with me.
what are the kinds of things we should talk about?
in the meantime, remember - you’re already enough. right where you are.
Love, J.
I love your theory that lockdown time is 'transit time' - and love the idea of 'transit time'. I used to get a 2 1/2 hour train from Newcastle to Sydney for work twice a week and always thought I would get loads done, but somehow the hours would just slip away...
